It is a classic, high-density line card from the mid-2000s era, widely deployed in enterprise, campus, data center, and service provider networks for Gigabit Ethernet aggregation over fiber.

The WS-X6748-SFP is a CEF720-based (Cisco Express Forwarding) 48-port 1000BASE-X SFP module that provides 48 × 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports using SFP transceivers (Small Form-factor Pluggable). It is designed for high-performance, non-blocking Layer 2/3 switching and routing in Catalyst 6500/6500-E/7600/7600-S chassis.

Key highlights:

• All 48 ports are 1 Gigabit Ethernet only (1000BASE-X) — no 10/100/1000 copper or 10GbE support
• Uses standard SFP transceivers (1000BASE-SX, LX, ZX, T, etc.)

This is a very popular, reliable, and long-lived 2U server that was widely deployed in data centers, virtualization hosts, file/print servers, small databases, web/application servers, and backup targets during the 2010s and early 2020s.

The x3650 M4 is a dual-processor 2U rack server offering excellent balance of compute power, memory capacity, storage flexibility, and I/O expansion for its era. The Intel Xeon E5-2620 (Sandy Bridge-EP, 6 cores/12 threads, 2.0 GHz base, 2.5 GHz turbo, 15 MB L3 cache, 95W TDP) is a cost-effective, mid-range processor that provides solid multi-threaded performance for virtualization, general-purpose workloads, and moderate database tasks.
