The HP J9803A (also known as HPE 1810-24G v2 Switch) is a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet smart-managed switch from the HP 1810 Switch Series — a compact, affordable, fanless Layer 2 switch designed for small businesses, branch offices, small IT environments, classrooms, conference rooms, or quiet locations needing reliable Gigabit connectivity with basic management features.

Product Description

This switch provides 24 × 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 autosensing ports for copper connections and 2 × SFP slots (100/1000 Mbps) for fiber uplinks or additional Gigabit connectivity (using compatible mini-GBICs/SFP transceivers like 1000BASE-SX/LX or 100BASE-FX). It offers simple web-based management (no CLI required) for configuration, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting — ideal for non-technical users or environments without dedicated network admins.

Key features include:

  • IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) — reduces power consumption during low traffic periods
  • VLAN support (port-based and 802.1Q)
  • QoS (port-based priority queuing, 802.1p/DSCP)
  • IGMP snooping for multicast optimization
  • Link aggregation (LACP/802.3ad)
  • Spanning Tree (STP/RSTP/MSTP)
  • Port mirroring, loop prevention, broadcast storm control, cable diagnostics
  • Fanless design — completely silent operation (passive cooling)

The 1810-24G v2 is a minor hardware/firmware refresh of the original 1810-24G, with improved power efficiency and support in later firmware versions. It supports flexible mounting: 19-inch rack (ears included), wall, desktop, or under-table installation.
