The Oracle 7078248 is the Rear I/O Board / Rear I/O Assembly for the Oracle SPARC T5-4 server (and compatible with some T5-8 configurations).

Product Description

This is the main rear I/O plane located at the back of the SPARC T5-4 chassis. It serves as the central hub for all external I/O connectivity, routing PCIe lanes from the SPARC T5 processors to the rear panel and providing physical connectors for:

  • PCIe expansion slots (via risers)
  • Onboard networking ports (typically 10GbE)
  • Management / Service Processor (ILOM) ports
  • USB ports
  • Serial/console ports

The board connects to the motherboard via high-speed cables or direct midplane connectors and handles signal distribution for the entire rear subassembly. It is a critical component — damage or failure usually results in lost rear PCIe slots, missing network ports, or I/O-related boot errors.
