The Cisco WS-C3750X-48U-L is a stackable, enterprise-class Layer 2/3 access switch from the Catalyst 3750-X Series — one of the most successful and widely deployed fixed-configuration switches of the early 2010s.

This model is the 48-port UPOE (Universal Power over Ethernet) version with LAN Base software image, designed for high-density converged wired networks that require both data and high-power PoE on every port.

The WS-C3750X-48U-L provides 48 × 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports with Cisco UPOE (IEEE 802.3at PoE+ plus Cisco proprietary extension), delivering up to 60W per port on all 48 ports simultaneously — far beyond standard PoE+ (30W). This makes it capable of powering not only IP phones and wireless access points, but also high-power devices such as pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, video phones, thin clients, LED lighting, digital signage, and other PoE-powered IoT/endpoint devices.

It includes 4 × 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ uplink ports (via the network module slot; the default network module is typically the C3KX-NM-10G with 4 × 10G SFP+), providing high-speed fiber or copper aggregation to core/distribution layers or data centers.

The switch runs the LAN Base image, which includes full Layer 2 switching (VLANs, VTP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, EtherChannel, PVST+), basic Layer 3 static routing, IPv6 support, QoS, security ACLs, NetFlow Lite, Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), and advanced security features — but no full dynamic routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) or advanced Layer 3 functions (those require IP Base or IP Services image).

It supports StackWise-480 technology (480 Gbps stack bandwidth), allowing up to 9 switches in a single logical stack — creating a unified system with up to 432 UPOE ports managed through one IP address. Stacking simplifies management, enables cross-stack QoS/security policies, and provides high resiliency.

This model also supports Cisco StackPower (with optional StackPower cables and compatible PSUs), allowing power sharing across the stack for maximum PoE availability and redundancy — a major advantage for high-power UPOE deployments.
