The Cisco SNS-3515-K9 (also known as Cisco Secure Network Server 3515, hardware revision V01) is a 1U rack-mountable appliance purpose-built for Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) deployments. It serves as a dedicated physical platform for running Cisco ISE software in medium-to-large-scale enterprise, government, or service provider environments requiring high-performance policy enforcement, RADIUS/TACACS+, profiling, posture assessment, guest access, BYOD, 802.1X, and TrustSec/SGT services.

The SNS-3515-K9 is the mid-range appliance in the Cisco Secure Network Server family (below the high-end SNS-3655/3695 and above the entry-level SNS-3415). It is optimized for ISE 2.0 through ISE 3.x deployments (still supported on current ISE 3.4 as of 2026) and provides dedicated hardware acceleration and reliability for authentication, authorization, accounting (AAA), profiling, and policy services.

Hardware configuration (as shipped):

  • CPU: 1 × Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 (Haswell-EP, 6 cores / 12 threads, 2.4 GHz base, 3.2 GHz turbo, 15 MB L3 cache, 85W TDP)
  • Memory: 16 GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM (typically 2 × 8 GB or 4 × 4 GB at 2133 MHz; expandable to 128 GB)
  • Storage: 2 × 600 GB SAS HDDs in RAID-1 (mirrored) for ISE OS and logs; optional SSD upgrades
  • Networking: 4 × 1 GbE RJ-45 onboard + dedicated 1 GbE management port
  • Form Factor: 1U rack server (Cisco-branded rebadged UCS C220 M4 rack server platform)
  • Power: Dual redundant hot-swap 650W Platinum PSUs
  • Management: Cisco IMC (Integrated Management Controller) – dedicated RJ-45 management port with KVM, virtual media, power control

The appliance is pre-installed with Cisco ISE software (customer downloads the ISE ISO and installs it during initial setup). It is fully validated and supported by Cisco TAC for ISE deployments up to 50,000–100,000+ active endpoints (depending on ISE version, deployment type, and feature usage).
